Back From Walt Disney World

Hanging out with Randy Chapman and Misty Miotto

I’m back and I had so much fun!!

I’ll do a mini-trip report as soon as I get myself organized. I actually have a ton of stuff to do on my to-do list because the trip was very inspiring and it made me realize what things I like about this site and what things aren’t really working for me right now. I wish I could just open my brain and give you guys the crazy amount of ideas/inspiration/information that I can home with, but instead, you’ll just have to bear with me and wait while I sort it out.

So in the meantime, we’ll do a couple more spotlights while I get organized, but first I have to say thank you to…

  • Carrie, for running around with me for a couple of days. It was so much fun to geek out about Disney weddings together!
  • the local Disney brides who came out and stayed up way past their bedtimes so that we could chat and share happy wedding memories.
  • all of the vendors, cast members, and contacts that made time to meet with me so that we could share ideas and get inspired together about how to make wedding planning easier for everyone.
  • the many, many, many people who drove me around so that I wouldn’t have to take all of those Disney busses!
  • the brides and readers who surprised me all over the place by coming up to say hello.
  • Kyle, who let me steal his blog to share photos along the way.

And, yes! I brought something back so that we could do a…

Giveaway
I looked high and low for something for this week’s giveaway. I couldn’t decide between getting a general Disney item, a seasonal Halloween item, or a special wedding item. Ultimately, I went with a weddings item, even though I know that not all of the readers need wedding stuff, because I really like these and figured that most people reading at least knew someone else that they could give them to, even if they didn’t want them themselves.

So, with that convoluted introduction, the prize for this week is…

…a pair of Mr. and Mrs. coffee mugs. (Cute, no?) I had seen these on our last trip, but Kyle and I have mugs coming out of our ears, so I resisted. This gave me the perfect opportunity to buy them! I’ll even send them in their official Disney wrapping and shopping bag, because the girl wrapped them up so nicely that I figure I should probably just leave them alone!

To enter this week’s giveaway, leave a comment and let me know what your favorite WDW or Disneyland hotel is and why. I stayed at All-Star Music on this trip and, although it was a little fun because I used to work there, it reminded me that there are other resorts that I like much more. So, I’m curious to see where you guys stay when you visit the parks and why you love it so much. Is it the food? The decor? The busses? Let me know!

Good luck, everybody!

i've gotta go with the Grand Floridian! It's one of the first hotels I remember staying at with my family and it's where my wedding reception is going to be in May! Not that I'm excited or anything πŸ˜‰

I'm glad you had a great trip! Can't wait to see what you brought back! πŸ˜€

Our (my fiance and I) love to stay at Port Orleans Riverside. We stayed there for the first time on our first trip together, and nothing has been able to top it since! Both of us had been to Disney many many times before we met each other, and have stayed at many different resorts, but we both agree that Port Orleans is our favorite. It never seems crowded (even when we visit in the dead of the summer), the grounds are beautiful to walk around, no matter where in the resort you stay, you are never a far walk to the main building, the multiple bus stops are a huge plus, and our favorite perk—the boat that takes you to Downtown Disney! We considered a Deluxe room for our honeymoon next year, but I think we'll be back at Port Orleans!

Our favorite resort has to be the Carribean Beach. I am originally from Florida and my parents used to take my brothers and I to disney atleast 6 times a year, and we used to love it when we would pull into the resort! I love the Dinning Hall and the fact that the hotel is very "runner friendly". We're staying at the Boardwalk for our wedding, and I have a feeling that the Boardwalk will become our new favorite Disney Resort.

The only Disney Resort that I have stayed at is the All-Star Music resort and I love it because I like the whole themed decor with the Jazz buildings and the Showtunes buildings, etc. It's nice because it gives you a value option when your real focus is less on the resort and more on getting out and doing everything. But they're still clean, well cared for, and comfortable.

I'm really looking forward to staying in the Animal Kingdom Resort. Just looking at the pictures makes me think this one will be my new favorite.

I love Saratoga Springs. On my trip a few years back, we saw it being built and I remember thinking how beautiful it looked, so as soon as it opened we had to stay there. It was amazing and so beautiful… and then we got engaged there last October so it holds an even more special place in my heart now… πŸ™‚

Glad you had fun Carly- we saw you at Franck's on Friday but you looked busy so we didn't want to interrupt… It was an amazing week weather-wise!

My favorite WDW resort is the Wilderness Lodge!
I love how cozy it feels, especially at night.
The best memory was this past January, FL hit record temperatures and it even snowed at 3am! It was SO FREEZING. It was absolutely perfect that we were staying at WL.
We also got a free concierge upgrade that trip πŸ˜€
I love the fireplaces, the pool (which was steaming in Jan!), the rooms and the awesome concierge!

I've only stayed a few places in Disneyworld (All-Star Music, and the Carribean Beach before the rehab). I have visited several of the deluxe resorts too though! I've Visited The Boardwalk, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the Grand Floridian. I'd LOVE to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I love the rustic, yet classy, out-of-this-country feel.

My husband and I got married at Shades of Green (beautiful! but the transportion is lacking), honeymooned at Port Orleans French Quarter (nice and quiet, perfect for relaxing in the days after the wedding) and have also stayed at Coronado Springs, and all the All Star resorts. But our very favorite place to stay is Pop Century. We love the atmosphere, the transportation is great, and its budget friendly.

I have visited all of the WDW Hotels, but have only stayed at All-Star Music and Caribbean Beach. Out of the two my favorite is All-Star Music. I liked the atmosphere and the food court…and the fact that I was only in my room to shower and sleep, inexpensive was the way to go! My favorite resort to visit is the Wilderness lodge…I love their decor!!!

    Welcome back!! πŸ™‚

We've stayed at a lot of the WDW resorts and I'd have to say my favorite is the Grand Floridian, if only for the way the cast members there have made us feel: appreciated and a little bit pampered! Plus, you can't beat hearing the the train whistle, howling "wolves" and other sounds drifting over from the Magic Kingdom!

We love to stay at the Swan because it's not too expensive and the boat trips to Epcot and MGM are really convenient! Plus, they have some really good restaurants at the Swan and the Dolphin that are never too crowded.

Of all the times we've been to Disneyland, we've never actually stayed on Disney property, and the only Disney hotel we've ever stayed at was Pop Century in WDW, so that will always hold a special place in our heart. <3 I loved the giant statues throughout the hotel property and we spent so much time trading vinylmation and pins in the gift shop. πŸ˜›

My pick is the Swan & Dolphin. They're a little cheesier on the outside, but they're so cool. I have a hard time separating them in my mind, but I remember the gorgeous pool, too! I think what put it highest up there for me is the fact that you get to take the water taxi instead of the buses, LoL.

My husband and I have wanted to get those mugs since our Disney wedding last year, but always wind up spending our budget on the kids! Picking a favorite Disney Resort is difficult as they are all great for different reasons. I have stayed at All-Star Music several times which is fantastic on a low budget,I love camping at Fort Wilderness because it's everything you love about camping without everything you don't, not to mention breakfast at Davy Crockett's is unbeatable. We recently stayed at Caribbean Beach with the kids so the pirate ship beds and pool were great. For our wedding week we stayed at Coronado which we love for the atmosphere and the great ammenities. We had consierge level at the Grand Floridian on our wedding night which may just have been the single most amazing hotel experience ever (we were treated like royalty!) Next week we are headed to Port Orleans French Quarter, without the kids this time πŸ™‚ So, suffice it to say that all of WDW Resort is our favorite!

I haven't been to WDW yet but at Disneyland my favorite hotel to stay in is The Grand Californian because it is simply amazing! It's the closest Disney Hotel to the parks and even has it's own private entrance to Disney California Adventure! Also, it has the best restaurants including Napa Rose and Storyteller's Cafe and has a very relaxed and romantic decor. I always love taking a nap by the fireplace in the lobby.

For our first vacation together, my sweetie and I stayed at the Contemporary Resort completely exceeding our budget, for two high school seniors, it was a lot of money! When we arrived though, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a Magic Kingdom view. Walking into that room and walking out onto our balcony to look over my favorite park, I knew it was all meant to be. The room and vacation validated my love for Cory once again. The Contemporary is where all of my dreams came true and where new ones began.

Welcome back Carly! I'm glad to read that you had a fun trip and that you got to hang out with so many Disney Bride favorite vendors and Disney Bride "All-Stars" πŸ˜‰

I'm not necessarily entering the contest (though I did covet those mugs when I saw them earlier this year) but since no one is throwing Disneyland a bone, I thought to give my two tokens.

I really like Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel at the Disneyland resort. We always stay there when we stay for a weekend or a week and they've always treated us well. The atmosphere and decor is really laid back and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It's just as close as the other hotels so I don't know why it has the rep of being the "ugly step child" of the 3 Disneyland resorts. I highly recommend it and shout out to the staff of the PCH Grill for their excellent food and service at our RD! πŸ™‚

Hi everyone, I would have to say the fort wilderness resort is by far the best hotel/resort I have ever stayed in. This past August was my first time ever staying at a WDW resort and it was the best experience ever. Everything from cabins in the woods to bump beds was just off the charts. I enjoyed exploring the camp with my now fiancΓ©. The greetings upon check-in. The convenience of free parking for any WDW theme park. Another wonderful experience was the Barbecue we had right outside our cabin in our personal grill. I actually had a surprised birthday party for my mother and she was just astonished. If I had to do it all again, I would most definitely would. After this experience, I will never ever stay at a Days-Inn or any other place if it is not a WDW resort.

5 years ago DH and I went on our second vacation ever to Walt Disney World.

It was our "You have been out of any hospitals and emergency operating rooms for a year!" celebration.

He surprised me by booking us a beautifully breathtaking Savannah view room in the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

When we arrived and got into the lobby and then our room I was so very happy, it was so pretty.
I loved the architecture, the design, the colors, how it seemed to transport you away so you didn't even feel like you were in Florida anymore.

Ever since then, we have made a point of coming back every single year. We had to skip this time due to having to save for our upcoming vow renewal, but we will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for it, and we are counting down the days.

I can't wait to be there with all my family and friends as well and make even more amazing memories there!

Plus, we have yet to eat at Boma – but it looks AMAZING!

My favorite DLR hotel is the Disneyland hotel! Its mostly cuz I have shared all the romatic getaways with Manny there. Our first getaway was there, our anniversary, its very special to us. However, I havent stayed at the other hotels but again this is mostly sentimental reasons. The hotel rooms are also beautiful and the service of Disney magic is amazing! I also love the Neverland pool! πŸ™‚

    Hey there,
I've only stayed at Old Key West, but I love the atmosphere. I love how it has the beautiful pool with the lighthouse sauna- but also the quiet pools, which are great when you want a bit of peace! The cocktails (Turtle Crawl in particular!) are gorgeous & it amuses me that each time I go, they have the same selection of music piped out. I can never resist jumping around to 'Daylight come & me wanna go home', so its great to turn up & feel like dancing after a long flight! The rooms are beautiful, the river with the boat to downtown disney is gorgeous (& fun to play on with peddle boats!) & the staff are so awesome! I would love to try the Polynesian & the Animal Kingdo, resorts though, I have to admit!

Villas at Grand Californian is our favorite resort to date. We stayed there last month in Disneyland while celebrating our engagement and had an outstanding time. Our room over looked Disney California Adventure (and World of Color). The pool was sooo nice and relaxing and everyone at the resort was so accommodating. I'm looking forward to our honeymoon when we'll stay at AKV and hopefully BLT. Then our favorite will probably change.

I live in the IE CA so I am not very far from Anaheim. We have yet to stay at a resort hotel but I will tell you we are looking forward to spending the night at the Grand California. We have walked thru the lobby MANY times and just find it breathtaking. And even with the hustle and bustle of the lobby it still seems so serine. However we are tossing the woodsy elegant look for something more Mickey and having our reception @ the Disneyland hotel which I love (especially for families) because it really is very Disneyish and cute. But I am sure that will go out the window when we check out the other resorts πŸ™‚
ps I love these mugs, even if your readers are already married as they are too cute. My husband and I are already married (civilly doing the religious ceremony and reception @ Dland) I would not mind having them.

Sounds like you had a blast! My favorite resort to stay at is the Yacht Club Resort. We stayed here for our wedding and as soon as you walk in the lobby you notice a fresh, clean, pleasant smell, sort of like laundry, vanilla, and fresh peonies. When we went back and stayed there after the wedding for our honeymoon we decided that smell witll always be known as "the wedding smell". In all seriousness we love the Yacht Club because it is so close to our favorite park (Epcot) and we can stroll around the Boardwalk at night and relax. Also, the pool is very nice, sure it is popular but it still has an quiet feel in some areas. Oh the Daniel the bartender makes the world's greatest margaritas too :0

My Hubby and I are Poly people all the way!!

My first trip to Disney was with my husband, we stayed at the Polynesian in Tuvalu. Our room over looked the Seven Seas Lagoon and it was from there that I saw the Castle for the first time!!!

We have stayed at many of the other Disney resorts and love the Contemporary, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Wilderness Lodge. The Polynesian has it all for us; beautiful tropical beaches, two beautiful pools (that have the brand new addition of cabanas), fabulous views of the Castle, and Disney’s Wedding Pavilion, and to top it off you can sit with your toes in the water a tropical drink in your hand and see the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom every night! However, what makes this our number one place to stay are the people. We have made lasting friendships with several of the cast members and it has truly become our home away from home! Mahalo!!!

I would defently have to say the Grand Californian at Disneyland. Not only can u get great views of the park, but the ENTIRE staff there is sooo friendly and helpful. When my bf and I first got there, we had so many questions. the CM's at the guest service desk were so nice and patient with us. I think that all the CM's at the Grand Californian and every other hotel at both Disneyland and WDW are often overlooked. So I give them a standing ovation for their hard work and having to deal with difficult customers.

Allow I love many of the resorts at WDW and think they are all special in there own way, I have to vote for the Polynesian as my favorite so far. It is where I often stayed during trips with my parents and my sister, and I have so many wonderful memories from being there. One of the earliest memories I think I have of my life is sitting out by the pool at the Polynesian in my pajamas with my family and watching the Electrical water pagent. We used to stop and grab a few snacks from the store in the lobby and then head to the pool. Me and my sister also took a picture in the same spot every single year we stayed there, by the little fountain as you walk into the lobby. I also completely love the atmosphere there, and I think it is the perfect place to spend a WDW vacation because you run around like crazy in the parks all day, but then you come back to the Poly and feel like your in a different world, and can have that nice relaxing aspect of your vacation that you have to include. I have never stayed there with my future hubby, but hope to many times in the future, but I will never forget all the magical memories I made with my family there.

Well, I've only stayed at 2 hotels before at Disney World. The Yacht Club and The All-Star Sport Resort. Both were wonderful from what I can remember, seeing as how I was just so excited to be at Disney World. Shoot I would have been the happiest person in the world even if we stayed in a shoebox! haha Most of my time wasn't spent in the hotel, it was in the parks. So by the time I got to the hotel, I just passed out just long enough to get to the parks by the time they opened. But what Disney hotel isn't AMAZING!?! I know we even spent some time just walking around some of the hotels, completely amazed at how beautiful, creative, detailed, and MAGICAL they all are! After all, that's what Disney is all about!

We generally pick a value resort when we travel to WDW because we spend sooooo little time in the room. We may or may not use the pool, so as long as it's filled with water, we're not particular about theming or slides. That said, it's my dream to stay at the Poly– I am obsessed with Polynesian culture and mythology.

My family's always stayed at the Grand Californian at Disneyland – you can't beat the location inside the park and the decor is so rustic and cool!

Like many of the other posters, while I have been to Disneyland and WDW many times, I have only stayed in 3 Disney hotels: The Paradise Pier, the Fort Wilderness Homes, and the All Star Movies. Of the three the Paradise Pier was definitely the nicest, but with our family of five we were a little cramped in one room. The next best resort was the Wilderness Homes. We had plenty of room, plus all the conveniences of home with a little kitchenette. We stayed for a week in the Homes and had a really great time, partly because we all had plenty of space for ourselves. Plus it had all the advantages of staying on Disney property!

My absolute fav is Animal Kingdom – Jambo House. I love it so much, that I used it an inspiration when redecorating our bedroom. DH and I love animals, and rustic decor, so it fits us perfectly. There is nothing like relaxing on your hotel balcony, sipping a Tusker Lager, watching the giraffes walk by πŸ™‚

Port Orleans Riverside is so relaxing! I love the atmosphere and quiet of the whole place. Lots of little, tucked away nooks for great pictures and romantic moments!

It is really a toss up. I love Pop Century, just because it is fun, we love the theme, and it is reasonably priced. It would be an indefinite "this is my favorite!" if it wasn't for the fact they stopped serving frozen cokes in their food court. DF & I have an unhealthy obsession with frozen cokes and we took full advantage of Pop's food court every time we went.

However, there is another part of me that just has to shout, "Contemporary!". The rooms are just so posh, the resort is conveniently located to our two favorite parks, all the best restaurants are here or a short ride and the monorail……oh the monorail.
